Introduction to the AI-Powered SEO & CRO Stack with Claude

Building the complete MCP toolkit for data-driven SEO and CRO

AI-POWERED SEO & CRO WITH CLAUDE — 9-PART SERIES

You are reading Part 1 of 9. This series walks you through building a complete AI-powered SEO and CRO stack using Claude and MCP connectors.

What If Your AI Assistant Could See Your Analytics?

Most SEO and CRO work follows the same frustrating pattern: you pull data from Google Analytics, switch tabs to Search Console, open Screaming Frog in another window, and then try to hold it all in your head while asking an AI for help. You paste chunks of data, hope nothing important got left out, and get back generic advice that could apply to any site.

This series is about ending that pattern entirely.

Over the next nine posts, I’ll show you how to connect Claude directly to your live data — your GA4 property, your Search Console account, your site crawler, your heatmaps and session recordings — so that when you ask “why is this page losing traffic?” or “why are users dropping off here?”, Claude already has everything it needs to answer you properly.

The technology making this possible is called MCP — the Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard developed by Anthropic that lets AI models connect to external tools and data sources. Think of it as a universal adapter that lets Claude plug directly into the software you already use.

The Stack We’re Building

By the end of this series, you’ll have four data sources connected to Claude and working together:

  • Google Analytics 4 — traffic, sessions, conversions, user behaviour, custom events
  • Google Search Console — search performance, impressions, click-through rates, ranking positions, indexing status
  • FreeCrawl — a technical SEO crawler with 96 MCP tools that gives Claude deep access to your site architecture, broken links, canonicals, schema markup, Core Web Vitals data, and much more
  • Microsoft Clarity — heatmaps, scroll maps, session recordings, rage clicks, and dead click data

Together, these four tools give Claude a complete picture of how users find your site, how they behave when they arrive, where they convert (or don’t), and what technical issues might be holding you back.

What Becomes Possible

When Claude can access your live data, the quality of analysis changes dramatically. Instead of pasting a screenshot and asking “what’s wrong with my bounce rate?”, you can simply ask:

“Compare pages where users rage-click against my top Clarity heatmaps, cross-reference with GA4 session duration, and tell me which three pages have the highest conversion potential if we fix the UX issues.”

Claude will run the analysis across all four data sources simultaneously, spot correlations you’d never find manually, and give you specific, prioritised recommendations — not generic SEO advice.

Later in the series we’ll cover ready-made prompts for exactly this kind of analysis, and how to automate the routine tasks so Claude handles them on a schedule.

Prerequisites

To follow along with this series you’ll need:

  • A Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise subscription (the MCP integrations aren’t available on the free tier)
  • The Claude desktop app installed on your Mac or Windows machine
  • A Google Analytics 4 property with data flowing
  • Your site verified in Google Search Console
  • A Microsoft Clarity account (free)
  • Basic comfort with editing a JSON configuration file (I’ll guide you through every step)

FreeCrawl is a site crawler built specifically for this kind of AI-powered technical SEO workflow. Details on how to get access and set it up are in Part 4 of this series (pending).

Why This Approach is Different

You might be wondering how this differs from the various AI SEO tools that have appeared over the past couple of years. The difference is depth and flexibility.

Most AI SEO tools give Claude (or GPT, or Gemini) a thin wrapper around a single data source, with preset questions and templated outputs. You’re working within their system, asking their questions, getting their answers.

The MCP approach is different. Claude connects directly to your actual data, in real time, with no intermediary. You ask whatever question matters to you, in natural language, and Claude figures out which data sources to query, what to cross-reference, and how to synthesise the findings. It’s your data, your questions, your workflow.

This also means the stack grows with you. As new MCP connectors become available — and the ecosystem is expanding fast — you can add them to your setup without waiting for a product team to build an integration.
